Private Training Overview
What is Private Training?

Private training is one-on-one or small group soccer lessons focused on developing the technical skills, strength, and agility of the youth player which are often difficult to address in team practice sessions. Since every child is different, they do not receive the individualized attention, advice, and mentoring necessary to maximize their game when training with the entire team. When teams come together, coaches focus on formations, tactics, and group strategies. Team training, while necessary, does little to help the individual increase his or her technique maximizing their individual contribution. Private training offers very specific pointers that are relevant to the tendencies of the player helping that individual achieve his or her highest possible technical and confidence level.

What is included?

Private Training sessions with ZenFooty Soccer Academy include a training plan, the session itself (usually lasting 45 to 60 minutes), and a detailed session summary which outlines the player performance observations and improvement suggestions. These session summaries are conveniently emailed to the parents of the player shortly following the training. Over time, parents and children will be able to come to the ZenFooty.com website to review their training plan, schedule, and session summary which includes details covering the performance of the player during the session. They will also be able to order training on-line from ZenFooty.com.

What is a training session like?

A typical session includes a warm up where a player dribbles the ball through a variety of courses at increasing speeds depending on their developmental stage. Specially designed activities challenge the child to navigate obstacles using all surfaces of both feet and to change direction which develops his or her agility. A player will also participate in ground and aerial passing and receiving activities which challenge their abilities to receive and play the ball on the move. This is done using a number of tools which simulate game situations and develop vision. Players are taught to strike the ball for accuracy, power, and distance (this includes shooting and long passing). Finally, training includes escape moves and effective fakes which help players express their individuality. Players usually touch the ball over 1,000 times during a session. The ball is part of every activity to ensure ball skill development.

Who are the trainers?

Ed is a former US National Team member, twice a professional draft choice, and an All-America as a player. He has coached for over 10 years and has conducted over 300 private and group training sessions this year alone. Ed personally recruits, supervises, and evaluates all personal trainers on staff. Ed's complete bio is available on the website and upon request.

Who are the current customers?

Players from 6 through 16 years of age have come to private and group training with ZenFooty Soccer Academy. Training with ZenFooty Soccer Academy is done in addition to club training and does not conflict with club soccer. Boys and girls from over 10 different teams across various clubs and leagues have come to build their skills. Most of the players starting with private sessions have renewed their membership adding more sessions after their first package was completed. Players who have completed the training have reported vast improvements in quality of play including increased goal scoring, better defending, and elevated team performance.

How many customers have been trained?

Over 400 individual sessions have been ordered year to date with over 300 private and group sessions conducted. These training sessions have been spread over 50 customers. Each session has been given detailed focus by lead trainer Ed Hawkins. It is estimated that over 1,000 training sessions will be held by year end 2007 comprised of both of the individual and group variety.

How can I get in touch with other parents in the program?

Many parents have volunteered to serve as a reference to handle new client inquiries. We do this to ensure that the prospective player will receive candid feedback on the program and can make an informed decision as he or she commits to private training. Contact information for families already in the program will be provided upon request of the prospective parents and approval of the parent who is the customer.

Where are training sessions held?

Training sessions are held both indoor and outdoors depending on the climate. They are conducted all year round. All sessions are held in the nearby Westmont, Clarendon Hills, and Downers Grove area. The fields vary based on the time of the year and the type of training session being held.

How much does it cost?

Private Training is sold in packages of 6 and 10 sessions with group sessions available at a discounted rate. Please refer to the pricing program for details on the fees for private training. Information about other players interested in group training is available upon request.

How do I order training sessions?

To order private training sessions, please call Ed Hawkins at 630-321-1405 (o) or reach him via email on ZenMaster@ZenFooty.com. Should you have any special requests, you can put them in the email to ensure they are addressed. Both individuals and groups of players are welcome.

What of I have to miss a scheduled session?

The current session schedule is very active with many players vying for a regular spot. If you have to cancel or reschedule your session, you must contact Ed Hawkins 24 hours in advance so that a replacement student can fill your slot. Every effort will be made to make up the sessions where advanced notice is provided. Where advance notice of the cancellation is not provided, the session date will be counted as if it were held.
